CONSTRUCTION OF AIRPORT AT THAR COALFIELDS.
Name of Scheme: Planning, Designing and Construction of Islamkot Airport.
Scope: Thar Coalfield is located 410 km away from nearest airport. Since Thar Coalfield shall involve huge movement of foreign
investors and engineers so therefore, Government of Sindh has approved a PC-I for Planning, Designing and Construction of Airport near coalfield areas.
The PC-I has been prepared by M/s ECIL Consultants (Pvt) Limited at the Cost of Rs.972.070 million. The Civil Aviation Authority, Government of Pakistan is overseeing and executing the project.
The main objective of building and airport at Islamkot is to provide an aircraft landing and taking off facility for investors and specialists, engineers, technocrats and other stakeholders intending to avoid hardships of ground travel and move by air to mine areas. It will be full-fledged commercial airport commercial airport facilities with 7000 meters of runway..
Timelines: The project is planned to be completed in two years time.
Financial Requirement/Estimates: Rs. 972.070 million.
Approval Status: Civil Aviation Authority opened bids on 7 September 2010, which are under evaluation process.
Funding Strategy: Government of Sindh from Annual Development Programme. |
